Yellow Rice

This simple yellow rice recipe is a favorite of mine. The cumin adds a light spice, and the turmeric rounds out the flavor and gives it its gorgeous yellow color.

Yellow Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmerice powder

Directions

1. Rinse the rice 2-3 times in water.
2. In a pan add the rice, 2 cups of water, cumin powder and turmeric powder.
3. Cook on medium heat. When the water comes to a boil, cover, and cook on simmer for 10 mins.
4. Remove from heat and let sit for another 10 minutes before serving.

    Hi Darshana,

    I love your blog and all the recipes. Recently I started on a whole foods plant based diet. I agree with everything about animal based foods and their impact on the environment. But I have a doubt about ghee, which is something used in Ayurveda and is known as the super food for brain development. I am confused about that aspect. Could you please help me regarding that? Do you use ghee sparingly?
